IndigoMax 0.3.4

Hello all,

Here's another version of IndigoMax. This release is intended for testing background / interactive modes and new maps nodes. As well as material editor rendering.

Changes:
  • updated to Indigo 3.6.23 SDK
  • added render alpha switch
  • materials are queued for rendering with Indigo (processed material is rendered as light green solid)
  • introduced maps: Indigo Texture, Indigo Spectrum, Indigo Environment
  • fixes in material editor for compact and slate
What you might expect:
Pros:
  • background / interactive modes
  • progressive material refinement
  • interactive tonemapping (for background and interactive modes)
Cons:
  • Interactive mode is still limited and experimental to some extent
Download:
Indigo 3.6.23 for 3dsmax
Indigo RT 3.6.23 for 3dsmax

Notes:
  • Renderer is world scale dependant
  • Versions: max2011 / 2012 / 2013 / 2014 64bit.

Hi Jake, thanks for the update.

Quick test with Max 2014 x64:

[Fixed]Changing the camera response from dsc315.t to anything else results an this error when trying to render:

[Fixed]There seems to be an issue with the alpha options, it seems to be permanently turned on. Render a scene with sun/sky background and the BG is black/not visible. Same with HDR backgrounds. When the scene is exported the "Foreground Alpha" checkbox is ticked even if the option is not ticked in Max.

I got this error when I added a greeble modifier to an object that had an indigo material applied - I haven't been able to repeat it (yet):

Phong materials don't render Albedo textures.
"Uniform" in SSS settings still renders as spectrum.
SSS Distance parameter has no effect.

Indigo still processes environment map when all maps have been removed from environment slot (should revert to "none")

[Fixed mostly]Aperture image maps result in this error:

Interactive:
"Error while building scene: No camera was found in the scene" This error occurs even if there is a camera in the scene. I have to change to another view then back to the camera for it to be recognized.
The image stays black until Update is pressed.
Pressing update after camera move results in a black render window.

I've been a bit rushed, let me know if you need more info. I will test more soon.

3ds max design 2011 crashes while opening compact material editor.

Slate works fine

Edit

Program crashes also while trying to render with hybrid gpu.

maybe there is something wrong with my max :\

I have uploaded a patched version to server.
It fixes some of bugs reported by Enslaver as well as material session.

Please re-download it for testing.

I haven't been able to re-test the bugs yet but I've noticed that pressing stop or closing the render window will not stop the render process (100% cpu) when using Interactive or Background modes.

(Still using max 2014 x64)

*Environment map coordinates are incorrect (changing them in the bitmap coordinates has no effect):

*No NK data listed for specular materials.

*Standard Max material doesn't render maps (albedo/etc).

*Maps other than bitmap don't render (noise/dent/colorcorrect/composite/etc).

*This error occurs trying to render Specular materials:
An exception occurred while rendering with 3ds Max.
This render will abort. If you render again without resolving the exception, you may experience instability.
Unknown Exception
This error doesn't occur when exporting, the scene renders fine. This error doesn't happen every time, you may have to move the camera or add a light.

*Bidirectional check box should be disabled when GPU check box is selected.
*Rendering mode selection drop down list could be disabled when GPU is selected.

If you want to export AND render the IGS you have to tick the "Render scene" checkbox in the export rollout of the advanced tab.

F10 > Advanced tab > Export rollout > Render Scene checkbox.

I am guessing most people who export want to render, so perhaps that checkbox should be on by default.

It is on, but doesn't exports anything, like really ):
What would I be doing wrong

Actually Im on Demo version, is that the reason?

What version of Max are you using?
What version of Indigo are you using?
Are you trying with a simple scene?

Are you trying with a simple scene?
1.- 3D Studio Max 2013 - 2014 x64 (both)
2.- IndigoMax the lastest beta version 3.6.23
3.- Yes xD just a square

What I do step by step
1.- Open 3Ds Max
2.- Setup Render to Indigo Render
3.- Checkbox Render Scene and Absolute paths (idk what it is)
4.- Set my Location to "export" the .igs
5.- Place a Square
6.- Render
7.- No .igs at my location or anywhere else :(
