Possible biased SSS?

Post by galinette » Thu Aug 19, 2010 8:01 pm

When I rendered my pearl material (uploaded recently), I noticed that the material is very dark for a very long time before reaching the correct look. Even when the noise is acceptable, parts of the object are still slightly darker. It took about 80000sps to reach a non dark result. I use MLT.

That would mean that the convergence is correct, but the average starting images are not. It looks like there is an algorithm bias somewhere?

Hi Etienne,
I'll have a look at this material soon.
Are you using bidirectional path tracing? because there are some bugfixes due in 2.4.10 soon.
