The killer awaits..

This is a model I made in Blender some time ago, I thought i'd try and get a nice render out of Indigo so I reworked the textures and added some hair particles. The scene is lit with an env map and I've used camera tone mapping.
The spider isn't based on any particular species but I found a great site called spiderzrule that has some fantastic photos of the little monsters and I gained a bit of inspiration from it. Thanks for looking!

gross!

but nice modeling and rendering :)
a displacement map on the floor would make it much more realistic, imho

Great image, rendered spiders are always welcome :)

yes, some displacement or some modeled roughness of the floor would rock.
I also would try to blend a phong + diffuse emitter for the body (both with the textures)
so you could have a subtle sss effect faked...

also the hair material could be some specular (or glossy transparent) with a little bit of transparency,
atm the hair is a little to solid for my eyes...

I didn't use displacement on the ground because I thought it would have racked up the render time, after you guys have mentioned it I'm thinking now that may have been a mistake on my part. With regards to the body Zomb, it is a phong material blended slightly with a sss material. I considered notching up the sss a little more but I was quite happy with the finished result.

oh, even sss used for the body, well my opinion is just what it is... very subjective :)

Jep displacement doesn't effect your rendertime, only during scene build it takes some time, and RAM usage is higher...

Gahh... horrible things!
Very nice render though.
Floor just needs some bump/displacement/dirt/

Thanks for the feedback guys, id I'd love to animate this but I would need an upgrade on my old dual core machine.
