Car views
Hi all!
I´m testing a new material, a metallized car-paint. So I was setting a scene using a detailed car model (http://www.colacola.se) and a very simple environment based on Indigo´s sun + sky.
I letf this image to you, I think the carpaint looks very good.
Thinks and critics are all wellcome!
Ciao!

Re: Car views
This is an interesting shot: partial views of cars are always sexy
Why don't you try to render the same scene with a EXR map as an environment? I think that will really help you a lot!

Re: Car views
Yeah, try a EXR map... will give more reflections, and a better judgement of the material

Re: Car views
Hi, Pibuz, Stromberg.
I´ve tried with an HDR environment (exr format), now I see the prior image too greenish. Altough the environment image I´ve used now is a little dark, it gives the car paint the tone I´m searching.
I will try with an open sky + clouds environment.
A thing has surprised me is the fast Indigo renders: this scene tooks 30 minutes, isn´t perfect but is close to be finished.
Thanks!

Re: Car views
This is by far the most realistic car paint material I've ever seen!
The rest is ultra-realistic, too.
Outrageous job!
Please go on with it!

Indigo has some nice speed ups for EnvMaps since 2.2.1, I realy enjoy this toojuan_irender wrote:A thing has surprised me is the fast Indigo renders: this scene tooks 30 minutes, isn´t perfect but is close to be finished.
A test with your car paint and more extreme EnvMap would be nice... to see how it handles reflections

Hey Juan, it's looking great !
Thanks for the link, I needed that quality !
I hope you won't mind if I come back with my coated carpaint thread as a competitor

Re: Car views
Thanks a lot!
Pibuz, I will render the first view again, with a better environment.
Zeitmeister, I´m very happy to read your comments, working with Indigo with the aim to achieve high quality car renderings is one of my goals.
ZomB, I´ve tried to upload the material using the Material Editor but something is going wrong, an error appears every time I´ve tried. Also, I´m reworking the material a bit.
CTZn, of course, I want to see your car renderings . The link was posted by Fused sometimes ago...
Ciao.

Re: Car views
Hi all.
Here is a new render using a different approach. I´m working on seamless integrating the car with the environment. I need to refine the method, but it works well. This shot has a somewhat extreme perspective, due to the preliminary stage of developing of this method.
Hope you like it.

Re: Car views
Very nice so far!
Small suggestions:
- The fence (?) on the very right of the street seems very large to me; the car size fits with the size of the fence on the right, but not with the one on the left... strange perspective of the photo.
- You should adjust the black point of the car render to the black point of the photo; it's much more lighter and doesn't match very good. Difficult.
- The street is very tilted, your car stands straight... maybe you could compensate that.
Go on, this is gonna be great!

Re: Car views
SzLaszlo: thanks!
Zeitmeister: the problem is that this image isn´t a composition, its done entirely inside the 3D program (Cinema 4D) and rendered "as is" on Indigo. The problem of the distorted perspective is difficult to alleviate, since we´re inside an sphere where the environment is projected (latlong type). This affects dimensions of parts of the image also. I´ll try to compensate as possible.
CTZn: c´mon, lets go, I like cars.
I left you another render with the material color changed and using DOF. Next time I´ll change the car model .

Re: Car views
The last one looks awesome !!
Like a photo.
Only that yellow light is a bit too saturated and doesn't have the right material. Other thatn that.. wow.
