The Desert House.

Post by Godzilla » Mon Aug 17, 2009 2:18 am

Going to put the Audi on hold for a bit to work on a new project.

I'm planning on doing a few different renders with the final scene, morning, noon, and night. Or perhaps a time-lapse?

Anyways, here's what's on the to-do list:

-dining table w/chairs and various items on the table
-window shades
-An entire kitchen w/various assorted items
-Light switches
-Some sort of outside environment
-A bookshelf

+Anything else anyone would like to suggest be in the scene.

About the environment, I have a pretty suitable HDRI map, but if I use that, I can't use a sun, and seeing as I like the effect the sun environment has on the scene, I'm in quite a pickle.

*Cough* Sun + Environment map *Cough*

*Cough* Ono *Cough*

Anyways, here is what I have done so far, the first is Sun+Sky, 2nd is Sky, and 3rd is Sun (Gives kind of a cool night time effect, I think.)

(Chairs are just there for the hell of it, probably going to move them)

They're all the same render, just with the sun or sky disabled. So, the emitter was a sun?

Yup. You might get nice moon-lit shots by trying a hot camera white point plus certain camera response, never tried the later for night.

Reminds me of an ancient scene (first pic is an animated gif holding 2 images) !

a very simple and efficient way to combine sun+env rendering is to have indigo bake the result into a texture and use the shiny new env sampling code on the result.

Tried out a new film type, Kodachrome 64CD

Looks much better, in my opinion.
