Another test, this time with backlight. Convergence was extremely slow. This rendered 16 hours and still very noisy.

@djegoo: I have done some tests with side light to create a volumetric effect but haven't achieved the desired result yet.

The indigo renderer logo rendered perfectly though. ;)

okay!

nice ambiance now! the sun provides some warm touch. the previous scene was too greenish /blueish in my opinion.

continue!

Latest test: added more vegetation to ground, removed haze (for quicker rendering).

I'm not completely happy with the bark texture yet. I think the scale of the mapping is off and the color is too saturated. Only the tree in the foreground has displacement (which also could be tweaked).

(Getting happier with the scene)

I just realized all of the trees are pointy at the top? Are you trying to impale birds, or something? :cry:

:wink:

Thank you very much!!!
Cheers, David

Sure zeit!

Code: Select all

<medium>
			<name>Fog_medium</name>
			<precedence>2</precedence>
			<basic>
				<ior>1.0</ior>
				<cauchy_b_coeff>0.0</cauchy_b_coeff>
				<absorption_coefficient_spectrum>
					<rgb>
						<rgb>0.0 0.0 0.0</rgb>
						<gamma>1.0</gamma>
					</rgb>
				</absorption_coefficient_spectrum>
				<subsurface_scattering>
					<scattering_coefficient_spectrum>
						<uniform>
							<value>0.000605185989409663</value>
						</uniform>
					</scattering_coefficient_spectrum>
					<phase_function>
						<uniform/>
					</phase_function>
				</subsurface_scattering>
			</basic>
		</medium>
		<material>
 		<name>Fog</name>
 		<specular>
 			<transparent>true</transparent>
			<internal_medium_name>Fog_medium</internal_medium_name>
 		</specular>
This scene is real-world scale. The tallest trees are close to 400ft high.

@Pibuz: I will share this scene once it is complete. My goal is to create several SkIndigo 'learning scenes' (this being an example of using proxies and instancing)

yup for saturation, it's totally prevailing. The previous shot, though featuring less ferns has a beautifull atmosphere*. Perhaps move the sun off the center of the image, either what the verticality of the trunks might hid the volumetric effect, dunno... or boost the mist :twisted:

* I mean, not only the light but the distribution of instances, it's looking very natural, unlike the last pic wich I'm finding over crowded on a second look.
