Muscle car

Post by fused » Thu Jun 04, 2009 3:25 am

The model is form http://www.colacola.se.

The carpaint material is the result of a lot of good tips from ZomB - thanks for that.
Tires are too bright and the car paint still needs a bit of improvement, well... WIP

Hope you like it :)

Very nice but the color is a bit dark, looking forward to your orange one
Can you post a screenshot of your studio setup please?

Nice materials!
But fused, you really should work on your stage... car studio stages are rather special than product studio stages.

Have a look here:

http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread. ... ge=1&pp=15
http://www.3dm3.com/tutorials/vray_rend ... /index.php

These should help you. I recommend you to keep it rather simple. White plane on the top of the stage, one spotlight, one soft light plane for an accent on the side.
And maybe an sophisticated background-wall like this (with the light shining from the ground to the wall):

And remember : Never use HDRI, because no photo studio in the world leaves its windows / doors open and their room lights on. ;-)

Color reminds me a peach and I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, cause after all.. it is a car. :)

The tyres don't look like they are supporting any weight at all. Flatten out the bottoms of them a little a make them bulge outwards.

On the topic of lighting, I used two ring lights around this car, and it turned out quite nice:

Image

They were basically just large hoops positioned so that the car was in the middle, at different heights.

And the angle of the camera in your render isn't particularly great, try going for more extreme anlges, and keep the car central, or so that the 'empty space' is the the front of the car, so that the back is nearer the edge of the image.

Fused: Nice render as i have told you before :)

Sparlin: The lighting setup you use is just disturbing and it makes the car look bumpy, would be much nicer with a clean white line going on the side. And i have t say i dont really like the camera angle either..

I like the first blue version the most.
For some reason this chameleon paint is not working for me. Not sure if the chameleon effect is too strong or coating color too light.
