OK this will probably be the last version and I'm calling it 'Water Jug on Rocks in Desert at Sunset'

Will update the image as the render proceeds - looks like it will render pretty quick.

Want to say thanks for the ideas and suggestions

Edit: just updated the image and I seem to be getting a strange moire/noise pattern. Anyone have any idea what is causing it? maybe something to do with the use of DoF?

Oh and I don't think the sand looks so good in this one - ah well :(

this is still VERY WIP but I decided to post it anyway.
The white objects are my fluid-emitters, I'll hide them onece I'm happy with the simulation.
I plan to add a lot of drops to the ground so it looks nice and fresh! and the ground's ior is way too high.
great pictures here so far, good luck to everybody!

Well apart from the low-poly issue I actually like the floating balls...adds an abstract pseudo- futuristic theme to the scene :P

My WIP so far..

I need to work more on the lemons, looks like I have some UV-Mapping problems and I still dont like
the lemonade material.

Blender 2.48a, 5 Hours on QuadCore 2.83, Indigo 1.1.18 64 bit Linux Build.

@kikeonline

looks nice dude, just some smoothing issues on the glass and jug, you are getting jaggies and by the looks of your wireframe you are only smoothing the center portion of your jug the handle and base are un-smoothed. not sure why, try set smooth with an edgesplit modifier, should yield much nicer results in that regard. for your liquid in the jug there is only one real issue, the fluid seems to be pouring like a river as apposed to a volume being moved by gravity (see image)

Otherwise nice scene, limes need are maybe a bit green, well a funny shade thereof.

regards
mat

The scene looks good :)
I agree with matsta, and i want to add one more thing, i think the limes and oranges looks very small... and the umberalla looks like it dosnt recive any shadows... if you know what i mean :P

Thanks a lot for your comments guys, this type of critisism I really enjoy.

I will absolutly compute the fluid again, work more on the lemons and set another material to umberrella and lemonade, And of course smooth the models.

Thanks again, :D

Very nice! Love the colour sheme! And I actually like the fluid sim, it is a long jug so water does flow a little like a river when you hold it sideways...

Well I did 3 more simulations and liquid always comes out that way, Its because of the jug shape.

I even change the gravity from -9.81 to -13 and the same thing happen :) , So my conclusion is that the mouth of the jug gives a little bit of momentum to the liquid. I also did some real life tests and watch a lot of videos and photos.

Anyways I will do more simulations.

Fluid looks about right to me. The long narrow neck would cause lateral acceleration of the fluid as it traveled to the opening.

Gonna add some nice water splashes now...

I like the new perspective and I really like the style of the jug and tumblers. They remind me of ice cubes which is appropriate.

One thing that bothers my is the handle on the jug. Both the jug and tumblers look as though they would be quite heavy (thick bases) so I'm finding that the handle on the jug looks to be too small, and therefore weak, to be practical.

Thanks for the comment, you are right! If I don't declare the material as light plastic, the jug might need a bigger handle...
