I agree that you mentioned a desert first, and that's why I answered asap to position myself; I would also agree that you and only you Doug Armand is in the best position to use this environment for the... competition.

You can't imagine how much I dislike the term ;) "Call for production" would please me a lot more...

As for ideas... by nature they should not be considered property of somebody, only realisations driven by ideas should.

Peace (on Earth) !
Did I miss something? I said 'I don't mind if you use it as these competions are really just for a bit of fun'

Wow maybe these competitionss aren't worth entering
I May bow out of these in future.

Sorry, that's only a communication issue due to my not-so-good english, your reaction is the contrary than the one I expected, I apologize for that.

Not only did I get you, but also I seconded you.*

reformulating: I wanted to support your initial project.

again: not support, but even encourage.

edit: I started on this because I wanted to make a difference between:

- were minds could meet around a concept (rather than "idea")
- and a simple copy-paste.

TBH

Now if you read my edits on the post you are quoting, on the previous page, I am giving some clues on the mecanisms involved in the "copy-paste" behaviour.

with respect.

Continuing with the fun of a competition :D

*Added Fluid Simulation (not 100% happy with it)
*More corrective modeling on jug (not happy with it)
*Added lemonade-cocktail theme with some lemons (the lemons need a lot of work, one of them looks rotten lol and the other intercepts the umbrella )
*Lemonade Material is pure Specular Transparent, No SSS yet.

When I correct all this I will transfer the objects to an interior scene.

:P

kikeonline - nice modelling but I'm not feeling the composition.

@kike
The glass seems a bit big compared to lemons. I think the scale of lemons could be a bit larger. Nice stuff. Keep going

OK the Water Jug in a desert setting.

Been rendering for 6 hours and reached 5100sp so far. It's great rendering such small files - boy does it seem faster :)

I don't think the fireflies will go unfortunately. Anyway hope you guys approve. I also still don't know if this is the right place for the comp submissions?

I think that comes out very nice!

What if you place the objects on a more stoney, dry earth ground? Very low camera perspective too, a little bit more DOF... just thoughts! :-)

I solved my personal issue:

I mustn't place the water mesh inside the water jug mesh! I have to scale it slightly, so that the outer polygons of the water mesh are in between the wall, the thickness of the water jug mesh.

This way, you avoid the water mesh material getting too dark. I know it's not realistic, but I saw no other way to solve the problem.

What do you think about this solution?

Purespider is correct - page 112 of the current manual  :D

Also I like your idea of placing the water jug and glasses on some rocks - I shall unashameably steal it - will post an update soon
