A casualty of the current economic climate...

Post by beyer » Mon Apr 20, 2009 7:20 am

This is part one of an image that popped into my head yesterday. In the original idea there was also blood, but that will be a lot of work and may not work (in an artistic sense).

Anyway I'm not happy with the un-glazed ceramic (Oren Nayar), and the exponent on the glazed parts needs to be higher, but I'm happy with the geometry (I think I spent half an hour modeling a pig, and then hours finding a good way to cut it up!).

Any feedback or suggestions are welcome.

Hi Beyer!
Very nice concept!!!
..I spent minutes to understand that the scene subject was a broken pig: perhaps I'm not really into art, but there is a tiny possibility that your aim isn't completely clear. Maybe adding a couple cents here and there would help!

..just my...2 cents...

Thanks Pibuz. I'm sorry to hear it was so hard to decode, I didn't mean for it to be hard work! I think adding some coins is a good idea, and should be enough context to get the message across.

I thought about sticking an I.O.U for €295 in the image, but decided it was a little too obscure. Anyway the image is done (or rather I'm done with the image  ) so I thought I'd post the final version.

Great work beyer although that coin on the left looks odd. It must be a camera angle plus lighting thing as it doesn't look like it's in the image properly for some reason...

Thanks mate.

I think I can see what you mean regarding the coin. The only visual clue that places it on the ground is the little shadow. Also, it doesn't help that the ground has no texture as it's difficult to ascertain the elevation of the camera relevant to the ground. Lessons for future images

Good analysis on the coin issue, by the way I'm prefering the coin-less ones, I could read them without hesitation.

I'm liking a lot that the image has a message, very valuable to me !
Lessons for future images ;)
I wish that's a promess, I'm eager to see more arteesh stuff from you, or whatever :)

I understood the image right away, but it may be better to have the head of the piggy less broken up. I would also add some bumping to the edges of the fractures. To me they look a tad too smooth. Also - Most people expect Piggy Banks to be pink, but I know that's not always true.

Great concept - I like the image.
