Woden Blocks

Post by lxstoian » Sat Mar 07, 2009 10:29 am

Danger noob alert !!!

It's my first render using Skindingo 1.1.16. It's a woden blocks castle sort of a thing. Haven't played much with the settings it's a a pretty plain render.
Please criticise away.

Welcome lxstoian !

Can you tell us what exporter you are using ?

Some smooth shapes are showing issues, others are fine; I suppose the former can be fixed.

Try to homogenize wood veining size through different blocks, specially the spheres wich seem to have very small UVs.

Why not try a phong material now ? It's necessary to simulate varnish, though even polished wood has some amount of reflections. Maybe an oren-nayar material with a small sigma can efficiently simulate raw cuts.

It's exported from sketchup as .igs using skindigo 1.1.16. I used Beech_Wood.pigm as the material with increased raughnes and decreased reflection. I'll try some renders from Blender next.
