Hi guys! I feel like this is not a floor test scene anymore..
I'm kind of affectionated to this scene!

So, I'm still planning a few changes: the spot light on the right is a little annoying and doesn't even seem to be turned on, the right picture is too big, the cart is empty..
Next challenge is the fruit vase: i'm gonna try to fill it with oranges, let's see what comes out! :D
Then I'll add a piece of furniture on the far right, under the table againsta the wall, and perhaps some objects over the high plasterboard shelf.

5 hours of calculation on a Q6600, 4GB RAM, WinXP
No post process, apart from a very subtle sharpening.

As always, any suggestion would be much appreciated!

I would be "affectionated" too if I were you :P

Great composition. The scene has a very tranquil feel to it. Nice!

> suggestions..

yeah ok you probably wont like this idea but how about a coat draped over the cart and a hat fallen on the floor - suggestive of some activity/absent person.
I have seen quite a few of these very neat decorator shots now and I think they are missing something.
Your scene is so nice how about making a still life painterly surreal type thing out of it

apologies for MS Paint hack  I am not a good artist either :?

Very nice scene! I like it alot.
One tiny sugestion from me... I would put some kind of a plate or ceramic tiles or smth behind those cookwares hanging down in front of the wall. Those can be wet and could ruin your wall paint.

Suvakas: I though about it: that's why my plaster wall is treated with "marmorino", a kind of finishing easy washable  :D :D
The render is still VERY far from the conclusion, so you can't see the wall reflections..
But still I'll think about it! Thank you!

Borgleader: don't think I'm so talented, man. This svene is done with a LOT of patience and Indigo (oh; it's great...)

Big Fan: thank you man for the tip. I was wondering it myself, helped by observations from my mom (who really likes to give advices about all concerning kitchens: even CG!!!). Problem is that sketchy hardly handles geometry such as towels etcetera, but I'll give it a try, why not? On the other hand, modeling the oranges (next up) has already been such an emotional hell, so...

Wytraven: thank you Wyt, you're so kind!

I like BigFan's idea however I would place the hat neatly upon the coat as the rest of the scene currently suggests a clean, meticulous, well-to-do occupier :)

It's getting simply beautifull, that's why you are affectioned I suppose...
... as the rest of the scene currently suggests a clean, meticulous, well-to-do occupier :)
... though I'm getting nervous when I try to figure out such characters

A little up: I tried to make the scene a bit more "chaotic", added some objects like spice cans (modeled on the base of a real one I have in my kitchen), candle box, reintroduced magazines, and added a tile finishing to the wall (the material appears to be interesting, with very subtle bumps, but the rendered cooked for only 8 hours so the effect isn't so clear yet..)..
...Oh, and I modeled oranges too!

..still I'm not very satisfied..It lacks something...Guys: say yours!

BTW, little postpro for sharpening and a little chromatic aberration.
Original size 2300x2300 ('cos bigger caused indigo 32bits to crash: i'm gonna test the scene with linux 64bits once i get the right libraries to run )

Nice! I like the wood floor. The chrome material also works nicely on the picture frame.

Pibuz, lovely scene! Two (n00b) thoughts:

- maybe the kitchen tiles are too black? or maybe you should add little more reflectivity?

- maybe the skirting board is too high and "lacks" some more fine geometry

Cheers,

Psy

Hi Psy!
You're right about both your questions..
I wasn't so fond of the tiles myself, so in the current cooking version there are small beige square tiles (not enaugh reflective, damn it), I'll post an update of an almost-finished version on monday.
Well, about the skirting board, i know it's too high..
But the level of detail is copied from an architecture review, i liked it simple..
You know, i love minimalism..
Perhaps it's just...TOO MINIMAL!

BTW thank you for your feedback!

hi pibuz

nice image and nice view.
personnaly i like the contrast between the black tiles and the white walls, mixed with some little touch of orange. nice color composition job

my only regrets are the 3 lights at the left top part of the image, the shape of the light on the wall (EDIT : Oh after more attention i guess it is caustics from the fixture?). I think you should turn them off and add mini spot lights on the tiles, to light the work plane? it would light this part of the scene and would create a contrast between natural light on the left and artificial on the right.

Nice JOB! and nice furniture!
