Imperial Lambda-class shuttle

Post by eulgrand » Wed Nov 26, 2008 9:34 am

Here's my first try at outer-space rendering. Still a bit grainy (already 600spp), I might let it cook a little more.
Modeled in SketchUp.

Actually I think eulgrand just made himself a new best friend

P.S: I'd love to have a higher SPP/close up render of that ship :) I even offer my rendering services (for free :D) if you need 'em

Thanks for your replies.

Unfortunately Vista ran through an automatic update and crashed the render. I just re-launched, a little bit closer to the ship.

Here's a first render I made. Actually the model is not finished yet, some details are missing on the vertical wing, and the rear is not completed.

I can provide with the model (ship + environment) if needed.

Nice. This is exactly the kind of stuff that I've been struggling to do.

So, now for the kicker. How did you insert the planet background?

Thank you guys.

The update is cooking (1600spp as for now - see below).

The bacground is a 1600x1200 image (forgot to give credit to www.wallpaperbase.com ) imported as texture on a rectangle. There are two panels - at the top & bottom - that bring light to the background. No other light source except for the little ones on the wings.
There are a few white stripes in front of the shuttle just for the windscreen to have something to reflect.

Here is an overview of the scene setup. Only too big emitting panels. Reinhard tonemapping, default settings except for z-gain, to add a bit more of blue.

What did you set lighting power and efficiency to?
