if it's without normalsmoothing, it's most probably one of those:

wrong normal direction
double / overlapping faces

Would it be possible for indigo itself to check for these things and fix them in the best way possible?

Okay, einstain, tell me, what is so obvious here? I was making a simple suggestion.

Dude, Indigo is not an "I'll fix all your fucking stupidity" program... It renders what you tell it to render, it's your duty to get your stuff right

+3, nice one Zom-B, pain may be the way for neo, after all. Indigo does check for degenerated triangles at startup time, and more. But it can not design things for you, so do things right.

neo., what you need* now is to use another 3d package in addition with sketchup, because it is a great modeling tool but will learn you nothing on 3d at all. Take whatever modeler that suits you beside sk, and you'll learn a great deal on 3d. Now, balls on the table please...

Oh and I don't know sk very well, but IIRC it's basic shader is double sided, beige outside and violet inside, isn't it ?

* this was supposed to be obvious too.

1. Its Einstein not einstain
2. Pixie nicely said it earlier "the inner got out and the out got inner". Soo... keep the inner inner and the outer outer...this is what's so obvious here.

I wasn't asking it to design things for me. This is simply another error, like degenerate triangles that it could warn you about.

Sketchup isn't my modeller. The only reason why I use it is to export to indigo. I use Hexagon and Wings.
Now, balls on the table please...
Sorry, bro, I don't swing that way.
