Garden room/patio

Post by Rhys » Sat Nov 15, 2008 9:51 am

Been working on a garden patio type thing. It still needs alot of work though.
Somethings going on with the leaf material, they look semi transperent and the texture doesnt look like a leaf...just flat green. Im not sure why, but it should work.?

I think i would crop some of the top of the picture off.

which material settings are you using for them? did you add a bumpmap? Or even better, did you model the whole shape? (That'd be the hardcore-variant)

heres the material settings of the leaf. Also when i do a material preview of the leaf material half of the leaf is semi transperent, even though the blend map is completely black and white in the correct spots. Itd be nice if it were simpler to use alpha transperency where you only need one material(maybe a new material type?)

I think your blend factor is wrong... iirc it must be 1 for alpha-like behaviour

so
1 material is (for example) glosy transparent (color texture)
2 material is glosy trnasparent (black-white - alpha chanel)

At 2nd glance, it seems that the texture is only visible on the bottom-side of the leaves. Look at those in the shadow on the left and you'll see the texture...
try to flip all the leaves' normals, maybe? dunno...
Even better: give them a tiny volume (not like [] but like ()) and texture them on both sides....
