very nice and detailed work... I like!

Did you realized the Ornament stuff with displacement?! There seem too be some issues on the bottom of the picture regarding the shadow???!

Those details are amazing :D
I'm very curious in seeing the final result :)

Same question: Bump or Displacement?
How it looks and feels, I'd bet on displacement...
But those shadow-issues are related to bump, AFAIK...

wow, amazing.
I'm pretty sure it's bump mapping.

It's bump mapping Zom-B, or the issue would be looking different. This error, where normal interpolation is lost around the shadow terminator is the only thing that irritates me with Indigo :(

Great modeling szlaszlo, very promising ! Will you bevel all these edges

And as I've said many times, it is, I think, a fundamental limitation of normal smoothing and bump mapping.

I have experienced this issue without bump mapping (and with external meshes). Honestly I am convinced, for a while now, that there is something wrong, either with diffuse layer or normal interpolation. I sent you a pic in irc the other day but we didn't discuss that :/

edit: And we just discussed it, i'm in peace now as I told you ;)

Looks like something that will be really good! It's got that heavy, solid feel about it. Current polygon/triangle-count?

OMG!
Even more impressive :D
Can't wait to see those caustics being fully converged :D

Oh, one thing maybe...
This kind of scene might work best in a studio setup, rather than sun&sky...
Or you add a ton of elements around it ("real environment") to smooth the light and such :) (Studio Setup is easier, though)
