Cheesecake

Post by MSUdom5 » Wed Sep 10, 2008 3:29 pm

I've started a project which will force me to learn texturing. I was inspired by BbB's pastry project, and decided to try to make cheesecake. I'm working on the cake itself right now. I plan to add toppings (strawberries or chocolate), a cake slicer, and put it on some type of dish. I really don't have a specific direction, so I would appreciate comments and suggestions. :)

The cake model and texture looks promising already.

Reduce the floor tiles size a little bit, maybe? It makes the cake looks like... I don't know, too big? Hench the fact that it really makes me hungry :wink:

@MSUdom5:
Would you mind sharing the floor material on material's DB, you've got quite something there you know? ;)

Thanks everyone. :)

Pixie, I can upload the material when I get home from work today. It's nothing special though. I just pulled a jpg from cgtextures.com and made it... erm... tileable.

You're way too humble! ;) Did you displace it? It looks as if it has been...

Nope, no displacement yet, but I plan on drawing a displacement map soon, before I add to the material db. This version is simply phong with an albedo map.

I'd still reduce the tile-size... It's not the cake which looks too big (maybe a little, but that can more efficiently be changed by increasing aperture radius, I guess...) but the tiles are definitely too big, I think...

Great start! :D Looks delicious and promising :)

Compared to what ? There could be giant tiles, nano-cakes... come on, that's as relative as subjective :)

Good start so far, looks quite creamy. Good for a cheese cake, lookink for topping !

Suggestion ? Erh... put yeti footprints on it ?
obsolete asset

It's all relative... One cannot say if the tiles are 30cm or 30m, for all it's worth all that matters is relative sizes... The camera could go away, we could enlarge the cake, and it would do the same...
