The Deeps
Here's a work-in-progress piece that I've got rendering on four different computers at the moment (a total of seven cores). The scene uses a parabolic mirror to get parallel rays coming from above. To keep the shadows soft, I used a medium-valued Phong exponent on the parabolic mirror so that not all of the rays are perfectly parallel.

- This is the render output on my home computer, baked about twelve hours. I'll combine it with the renders from a few computers at work to reduce the grain.

Thanks! No, I modelled this in Wings 3D and tweaked it a little bit (and did the UV mapping) in ZBrush. There's a smoky texture on the object baked in Maya 7, and final scene setup was done with Softimage XSI 6.5.CTZn wrote:Very woaw image, and heavy
TopMod ?
(I know it's weird to own both Maya and XSI, but the former I purchased and the latter I got for free from the latest CGSociety contest.)

Thanks, folks. The 1600x1200 version is the highest resolution available. I'm not selling it, though you can download it freely for personal (i.e. non-commercial) use from this website (it's currently in the "New Artwork" section) or from my deviantART page (http://vmulligan.deviantart.com). If you'd prefer a lossless format, let me know and I can send one your way.
