Lighter

I set the precedence glass>fluid>tube, but I can't seem to get the outer glass to show up. Its supposed to be green, but its just transparent.

Is the outer glass a volume or just a plane without thickness?

Precedence should be glass > tube > fluid.

Thanks, now the fluid refracts the tube.

Is there a rule for this?

I guess it's: outer shapes = lower precedence
obsolete asset

Higher precedence volumes displace lower precedence volumes is an accurate way to describe it I believe.

yeah, kinda...

Which one should be higher really depends on how you modelled it ;)

two things about the floor:
a) it's too flat
and
b) that lighter has to be extremely huge according to the brick-size ;) Try to find a higher resolution floor in order to be able to scale it up to a correct size so that it doesn't look too small ;)

Looking better neo.

Now take it off the atrocious brick texture and out of the sunlight and stick it in some studio lighting :)

Thanks for the advice.

How do I use a bump map to remove the flat look.

The texture is very hi res, i could scale it down. :)

What is studio light and how do I add it?

Studio Light.. well :)
You could do it like this:
(one redish, one bluish and, if you like, a white light, all with a slopy background)

hope it helps ^^
