One last test with that elephant rock scene.
I wanted to try displaced grass. Obviously, the mesh is not subdivided enough, but if I put a higher subdivision level : kaboooom ! Indigo crashes.
I will try a last test with a more subdivided mesh (you know, by splitting it in several parts), but anyway I think for grass, instanced mesh is a better solution.

Ok, my mistake : decent grass is possible with accurate subdivision level.

I can't post the entire map because it's too big, so here's what it looks like (in the squares the real size). For displacement I used a carpet map.
I guess it would still look a bit better if I could push subdivision a bit further (it's at level 6), but then again I'm limited by memory crashes.
Memory usage was between 1-1,5 Gb, rendered for about 25mn on a core2duo.

i wonder how this grass looks in a closeup - how does a single leaf looks like...
