To be SketchUp, the result is actually interesting!
..I rarely use clipmaps because you can only put them on flat surfaces (because of the lower edge of rectangular image): I recently started fiddling around with some 3D models. Still, I didn't have the chance to test them in a real scene, as it seems there's always NO TIME to spend on that (note the sarcastic tone..).

BTW, I am interested in the flowers too, and from your screen I can't tell what you used. Also, I see some smaller components like tiny bushes on the left side: what are they used for?

Thanks a lot FoX!

Hey Pibuz, thanks for the comment!

Yep I completely understand what you mean, from an high view angle this just wouldn't work unfortunately.
Been trying to fiddle with 3D grass before but I just couldn't get it decent in any way possible.
Hahaha, I left the NO TIME excuse on the left this time around :D

The flowers are from Solo over at SketchUcation, you can find them here:
http://solosplace.com/3Dgarden.aspx
I really recommend them, great deal for such a good package.
Those tiny bushes actually are those flowers, just without branches though..

Hope it helps, here's another update. Still not happy with it..

Should I maybe make a new topic in te WIP section about this?

I think that the flowers distribution is not making justice to the grass.

I would try to somewhat regroup flowers into zones where their growth could imaginably be favored; in the shadows or shallows for instance, much like we are seeing the brown grass emerging. Really the rather constant density is looking fake to me :)

The grass itself is one of the best I've seen using billboards !

Well if you are about to close the topic there is no need to create anew ;P

Simple test working with external OBJ within sketchup.

Thanks CTZn! I'm sure it'll help a lot, thank you! Going to change that whenever I have a take back at that model.
Got a bit bored about it
At the moment no need for a new topic than :D

Looking nice Pibuz, maybe I should also consider playing with external OBJ loading.

Roo Evans

Oh that looks really promising! With some more realistic cloud shapes it would come awesome.

Do some more tests please :D

Yeah, more test and more problems ;)

Can anyone give some hint why those renders differ so much with different rendering methods?
only CPU-PT works as expected :/

Cloud material is Fog from database with uniform scattering 0.2

Please post these in the latest Indigo release thread, so the feedback is at correct thread and wont be overlooked by the devs!

Another clouds baked with Bidir+MLT for 14 hours. Effects seems more like a painting or sth. It would need little more to fully converge, but I like the result anyway

Probably last test render with clouds, this time with a sense of scale. Ground and cloud planes are 10km long, each red thingy is about human size (~2m high), blue buildings are WTC size (65m x 65m x 416m)

1st WTC is 1km away from the camera, second 3km away, third 5km, last 7km away.
Cloud model is really basic sphere + displacement. Rendered to 100 s/px in about 20minutes

btw: would love to have turbidity setting for new sun&sky system ;)

Great images here!! More tests haluperido please :D ! CTZn: really interesting what you create with shaders, need to feedle with it too i think...

Here is a test wip of mine and *think of a sparrow bird nearly landing on the power line* !

I know some dirt is missing on the cables! :)

That looks.... wow.

Awesome job. I can't wait to see the finished project :)
