Simple Renderings Thread
Re: Simple Renderings Thread
Hello all, just wanna share quick material testing. What do you think? Believable? Ofc the lightning setup needs to be adjusted.
Cheers

Looks already quite great!
Just a few suggestions if you don't mind
- The water material looks a little strange, what did you used? Specular with 1.32 IOR should do the job (don't use ArchGlass option!)
- Go for blurry floor reflections, to focus on the hero cans, also by that you maybe get rid of the optical illusion with your standing can where it looks like its cut on the bottom or floating...
- There is to much light burn in the image for my taste, adjust tonemapping to prevent it

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
I like it! I'd advise you to try to avoid making your ground material too reflective, as it kills all the shadows. I tried simply overlaying your clay render on top of the one with materials - and see for yourself just how much more weight the shadows gave the image.

What do you guys think about these renders? What do I need to adjust?
I tried various materials, tried to make my own material for loudspeaker cone. But it still lacks something...

i'm still learning. For your judgement

@Tramis,
Looks very nice but the scale of the concrete textures seems to be a little off.
The code cans look much better on the less reflective ground.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
This should be in the super simple renderings thread. I created the scene to test Blendigo's light layer implementation. The caustics turned out great, however, it seems Indigo has a heck of a time clearing the inside of the Monkey's head.
This has rendered to 6400 spp; SS 2; Bidir MLT.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
Higher SS value should help here, also raising the large mutation p. a bit (reduces MLT "patchyness") but whatever you do: don't open the untonemapped.exr outputHeadroom wrote:it seems Indigo has a heck of a time clearing the inside of the Monkey's head.

Thanks! It's cooking at SS5 at the moment. I'll see what that does and then may see where I get with adjusting large mutation p.

Re: Simple Renderings Thread
This one is simple since I get all the textures and meshes from here: http://gl.ict.usc.edu/Research/DigitalEmily2/
I had no luck with the UVs for the eyes in the OBJ file
Maybe somebody of you guys can try the Alembic or Maya file and export the proper OBJ for the eyes with proper UVs

Those eyes creep me out, especially since she doesn't look like she's slept in a week judging by the rings under her eyes.
