How to make a cloudy day interior result?
How to make a cloudy day interior result?
How are you ,everymaster?
I encounter a problem now need to be resolve by every master!
I want to render a cloudy day indoor scene.
I don't know how to set the parameter will get the result so I thought out an idea to solve such problem.
I put a frosted glass covering the window.
so, I get the result like below: the below is which has no this frosted glass: but this man-made cloudy result cannot fulfill my requirement,
I always feel somewhere is not that better.
The question I 'd like to ask every master is How can I get a real cloudy day result with Skindigo?

Post a rendering or photo of the effect you are trying to achieve, then we'll talk.
Re: How to make a cloudy day interior result?
Here is a real photo taken in a cloudy day, which is out of the door is a balcony
How to render a scene like that? or how to render a more darker scene?
Thanks!

Don't use sun/sky. Use background color only.
Re: How to make a cloudy day interior result?
Hi Five.
I strongly suggest you don't cover your openings with frosted glasses or sss materials whatsoever, because the rendering times will sure get longer and longer.
When I want to render cloudy-yet-bright days I choose between:
1. usual sun/sky
2. environment map.
When you choose option 1, you may want to split sun and sky layers and then to turn off the sun while rendering. The result you get is totally similar to the one you achieve with the frosted glass onto the window pane.
Using option 1 will also give you the possibility to play around with sky colour and power values, to get different moods and brightnesses according to your will.
Option 2 is useful when you're trying to have some colour variations inside your room (scene), but you won't be able to play that much with colours or moods. Env maps are a little less flexible, IMHO.

Hi Five.
To turn off a layer you have to open the Light layers drop down list in the indigo GUI. There you'll find all the layers you have splitted. A simple checkbox will tell you wether the layer is on or off.
Obviously you have to split the layers PREVIOUSLY through the exporter.

Another option I use all the time would be... using a cloudy envmap!

I test the both way.
I feel the first way that put sky and layer in different layers will be a more good way.
because I can control the light's power through changing the value of its master gain .
because, sometimes ,in cloudy day,the object will also get shadow.

Re: How to make a cloudy day interior result?
Putting sky and sun in different layers must be the best idea.
Close the sky and sun,you 'll get night result.adjusting sky and sun's parameters will get different cloudy result.
It is fabulous!!
