IGS file not being generated?

Post by simalive » Thu Jan 08, 2009 5:04 am

Hi all,

I've been trying to learn to resume a rendering. I've searched the forum quite a bit and understand that the process requires the .IGI, and .IGS files.

Problem is, only the .IGI file has been generated for my rendering. But I cannot locate the .IGS file on my system (done a detailed search on my system).

Is there a setting I need to turn on somewhere?

Info of my system:
Vista 32bit
SketchUp 7
Indigo v1.0.9_3

Thanks in advance.

in the skindigo settings there is a checkbox to save an igi file.

otherwise I believe it just writes to the default.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes I have the IGI file already.

It's the IGS file that doesn't seem to get generated. Any idea?

Thanks.

it would be in the render folder

I always get those backwards.

actually, Whaat, if you are around here, would it be possible to give the igi and igs fields the same name, one that we pick?
just something I've always thought would make ti easier to resume a render.

I've triple checked... but no IGS files in the "render" folder...

This is really weird :(

The igs file should be saved into your root Indigo folder.
You can give it a name if you would like in the Render Settings folder.

After a minute or so of rendering, a png and an igi will be saved in the renders folder, in the Indigo folder. the png and the igi will have the same name, it will start with im than there will be a bunch of numbers after.

actually in your render settings dialog you can change the path of the image save. maybe you messed with that?

In the render settings dialog, there're only settings for IGI checkbox, render image path...etc. But no setting to give IGS file a path and name...

Could it be the version of Indigo I'm using? (Indigo v1.0.9_3)

I did, however found a "default.igs" file in the Indigo root folder. Is this the file to pick when I want to resume a rendering? (Does that mean this default.igs file will be replaced each time I begin a brand new rendering? If so does that mean I cannot resume older renderings?)

Thanks again for the help. Appreciate it.

wait, how are you rendering?

You need to choose, Export Scene as..

not Render Scene.

that's the problem, and yes if you choose Render Scene, it writes to the default igs file, and overwrites it each time.

Oh!!! That's it!!

I've been hitting the "Render" button in the Indigo toolbar instead of choosing "Export Scene as..." (where I can specify igs location).

Thanks for your help crojack. Appreciate it!

Simalive, the answer you posed is answered in the skindigo faq too.
See topic FAQ in the sketchup section.
