Problem: Instances and Defining Materials

Post by YIIMM » Tue Jul 01, 2008 3:40 am

At the moment I'm working on a model, and basically have two textures on it when I do test renders, a phong shaded one and an emitter.

The problem is, when exporting I'll often get a fatal error message saying something along the lines of:

The component Group #13 tried to use Material #3, which has not been defined.

Where Material #3 would be the emitter. For some reason, not all components using this material cause this message to come up and turning off instancing solves the problem (but I'd rather leave it on).

Does anyone have any pointers as to what's causing this?

Thanks in advance :)

The problem is simply that you cannot instance components which include emitters, YIIMM. Emitters have to be placed outside instanced elements.
Hope this helps...
Next time, attach a screenshot of your problem too!
