Rendering a night time scene?

Post by neo0. » Sat Jun 21, 2008 9:02 am

I set black to the background color, but I got an error, it said that it had to have atleast one light source. Is there any way to just drop the ambient lighting way down?

EDIT, how would I increase the strength of caustics too?

If you set not light at all, you also wont get any caustics as they also depend on the strength of light ;) You CAN use black bg but you should also use a mesh emitter ;)

No neoO ...you can't. Only mesh with an emittive material will work.

you have to either model your light shape or use an IES profile for lights.
