{Ask} Background Isue

Post by Rodrigonotor » Wed Jun 04, 2008 12:34 pm

Hello all, thanks for the rapid other answers.

I have a question, why my background look so blur and not brigth?, the image background (a jpg converted in EXR) looks good. I resized from 800 x 400 to 3200 x 1600, I create two exr, one with the 800 image and the other with the 3200 image and see no difference

thanks in advance.

i dont think its very practical to use JPG -> EXR as it is supposed to be an HD source. also, just resizing the image wont improve quality as it gets wrapped around the scene the same way either way you do it (as you can see from your test images.) i'd suggest getting a real HDR image and using that instead -- something with a high initial resolution is preferable.

can anyone else correct/add to this?

gl! :)

Either the resolution of the .exr is no good.....or set a smaller f-stop (=higher value): for instance f22 which makes background items sharp again. (use Reinhard mapping in that case)

Tankyou cpfresh and kwistenbiebel, maybe the resolution of the image is not so good. What is the best way to produce a good quality exr images? I am new in this hdr thing.

Also I try with smaller f-stop

produce yourself works like this:
Get a camera. The higher quality and resolution, the better (D'uh)
Get a blank sphere - the more polished and reflective and the more perfect, the better (D'uh²)
Get a stative

Take at least 6 shots (you can use less but the quality might suffer) of the ball with different stops to get the whole Dynamic Range.
Do 6 more from the other side.
Combine them in a proper Images -> HDR program. Eventually, convert from spherical to latlong.

A different way without the metal sphere would be to use a fisheye lens.

And now, THE Way, if you want to give this forum an amazing present and you think, you've got too much money:
