 that's right....

I don't quite understand the curvature and pixel thresholds. For example, if you use a value of 1.0 for pixel threshold, does that mean that any triangle that can be contained by one pixel will not be subdivded?

What does a value of 0.0 for pixel threshold mean? Does a value of 0.0 disable this feature (same as -1?)

One more question: Can you suggest a suitable default value for pixel threshold and curvature threshold??

(Off topic: the use of displacement is indeed quite complex....soo many parameters to set  )

I agree it is too complex for most users. If I can find some suitable default values for pixel threshold and curvature theshold (Ono?), I might eliminate these from the skindigo user interface.

Hi Whaat,
in general I think it's a good idea to set sensible defaults, in order to simplify the Skindigo UI.
What those defaults should be is another issue :)
I'm not sure what would make good defaults, more testing is needed.

is there anyway to make the bump value equal to an actual distance? even if there is no easy way to make a sort of "one-size-fits-all" then at least someone could easily determine their required bump based on a real measurement.

Nice! Thanks for the update whaaaat.

For a future release, it would be nice if there was some sort of screen where we could go in and select our objects for material assignments. Currently, its kind of hard when you have objects inside of one another. I came up with this idea for OBJs but it might work for other formats too. :)

Neo0,
Check the 'outliner Panel' in the 'Window' menu. It lets you select objects and geometry on all levels of nesting.

There are some good tutorials on the web to learn how to use Sketchup. I suggest browsing around for them. The youtube 'Sketchup-for-dummies' video tuts are nice (and the book itself off course). The Sketchucation website is a good resource as well.

Good luck.

Neo, you can follow the development on Sketchup on the Sketchucation forum. Info on new releases is kept very secret by the Google team and the beta testers though.
Maybe after the 3Dbase event we will know more about what new features or enhancements SU7 will get...

Sorry, I should have mentioned, I meant skindigo. :)

I was wondering about more material presets for the skindigo material editor.

No has ever made a suggestion for what presets they want....so until someone does...

There is one caveat for skindigo presets....they must be an untextured material. Some ideas that I still have not added yet include smoke, wax, and various liquids (wine, beer, coke, etc.)

Smoke, beer, etc all sound great!

Would it be possible to include displacements?

How about rubber, marble, and more kinds of glass? Coloured glass? Dialectic glass?

neoO...ppplease start reading this forum.
Displacement IS implemented.
When doing a little effort you should have read it even in this thread.
It is difficult to use, but it's there.

Please show the developers of (Sk)Indigo some respect and read what they already said before you start banging a door.

I know that this is a super beta test, but I'm getting an "Unexpected element 'displacement_map' when I try to render with a displacement map.

just a plane with a stock skp stone texture.

I removed all earlier skindigo and replaced with this one.

not sure what's going on-

and thanks, as always!

skindigo is pointing to an older version of indigo. do you know how to change the paths? You should be using Indigo 1.1.2
