Background color + sunlight?

Post by Stinkie » Thu May 22, 2008 7:30 am

Is there a way to render with both the SU background color and sunlight? I could've sworn there is - but I can't find it. See, that's what you get for neglecting Indigo for a couple of weeks!

Might be 'cause of all the pot I smoked in my teens too. :? Just say no, kids!

If you do two renders and composite them to one, that'll work.

Else, no chance ;) - the sky system somehow already IS a background colour (with entirely procedural gradient)

Thanks, Kram. How about environment map + sunlight? Using a monochromatic exr would then be a nice work around.

*note to self: run an alpha render and dig up a tut on compositing*

Lol, no. Using the analogy as before, HDRs are kinda like non-procedual gradients with many many (many) details ;P

Blending the images always works and already was done before but you can only use ONE kind of backgroundlight. ;) (Or none, which requires mesh lights)

Stinkie, I feel your pain. ;)

I would also love to be able to render 'background+sky' or 'HDRI+Sky' or 'Sky but no sun' or 'HDRI+emitters' etc.
Preferrable all on different 'light layers' which have sliders we can move (intensity) while rendering.

Maxwell has it but Fryrenders version is more advanced (=sky-sun seperation is possible). It would be the coolest thing for Indigo as well.

And off course a seperation of 'reflection','light intensity', 'refraction' and 'background' channel for HDR rendering......

Probably a little too much to ask for....but damn handy features :)

The first step to this kind of features (or actually the second) already's going to be done :D (Ono said, he'd add an option to change the background brightness in order to make lights more visible :) - first step was violet...)
