All Sketchup, All the Time
Oh..
No problem Stinkie!
I asked you because of the other discussion: i saw you were interested about the use of reflective maps so i thought you'd found your way!
So, you tell me you don't use reflective maps, but your results are great! I'll try not to complicate my life too !
But, if any sketchup user knows the solution, he's welcome!!!
Thank you, however!

HI all!
I just wanted to attach some other studies I've done!
Sorry i'm filling this topic with all my mess..
It's only that Indigo has this great potential, and i really want to get the best results: that's why i'm so annoying. So sorry..
I have to apologize a lot for all my questions about exponent maps: i've downloaded some floors by Bbb (who I thank a lot) and i see the maps work very well. Only, their effect is not as strong as i expected it to be (i think all arroway reflective maps have to be contrasted a bit before the use in SkIndigo). However, they work, and that's what counts!
...BTW, trials follow

A little question: do you have an idea about why the hell the shadow in Su and in Indigo don't match? - im1198518224.png (349.46 KiB) Viewed 3825 times

I love your tests! It is great to see when users take advantage of all Indigo's features.
BTW, the shadow thing is due to the exit portal. It is an Indigo issue.
Keep your posts coming. I'm look forward to more tests. I love seeing examples of what people are doing with the plugin!
Yes, you need high contrast textures to use as exponent maps. Also, the effect is much more noticeable when viewing a surface at grazing angles. Use the 'cube' preview scene for testing exponent maps. You will also notice the effect more when using a higher IOR.Pibuz wrote: I have to apologize a lot for all my questions about exponent maps: i've downloaded some floors by Bbb (who I thank a lot) and i see the maps work very well. Thanks Crojack! Yes, i modeled only the cubes, then i applied the glass block material (preset of SU - just for test) for setting the uv mapping, 0 opacity; the indigo mat is a glass preset with the same map in the diffuse channel and the bump map. That's it!
Easy enogh for me!
Thank you Whaat! I'm preparing an interior now, hope it will come out good.
Thank you for all your tips!!
One question: what if i tell you that i didn't use any exit portal in the scene?

I think it's Bidirectional, rather, as exposed by CoolColJ I thinkBTW, the shadow thing is due to the exit portal. It is an Indigo issue.
Like you Pibuz if I want to use bidir I'll stick with an older version of Indigo; in fact I was surprised that you actually used bidir without getting any firefly (for now I'm liking Hybrid only, btw I'm a Maya user)
Cheers !
obsolete asset
So, i see you love wip so that's a couple i've done in my christmas holiday spare time.
Critics are always welcome, but assume that i'm a novice user and that these are my very first "serious" shots of an interior!!
CTZn: thank you! in fact, the shadow problem was due to the tracing method!

really nice interiors!
About the BiDir/ExitPortal/ShadowMove things:
It's a bit strange:
Neither BiDir nor Exit Portal:
gives one way of shadows.
BiDir, but no ExitPortal:
gives an other way.
no BiDir, but ExitPortal:
gives a third way.
BiDir and ExitPortal:
gives a fourth way.
Each one is a bit different and noone knows, which is the most correct one, when having certain Sun-angles.
I don't think, it's ExitPortals, though: They where added very late.
Also BiDir was added later.... So, my guess is, that the Sun angle only is absolutely correct, if using neither BiDir nor ExitPortals....
