Light Brightness Issues

Post by Frutiger » Sat Sep 24, 2011 6:48 am

Hey Guys, cross-posting this from the support forum because it could be a Skindigo issue.

In short, I'm unable to alter the brigtness of lights and they seem to be set on a crazy high brightness.

Here's a link to the support forum post with more information including scenes and screenshots of the bug.

Hi Fruitiger,

the scene you linked can not render (mesh files are missing) and does not make use of emission scale anyways (parameter is absent). The skp would be more helpfull because it would allow to address the issue from within SU, practically.

If you mean to use raw emission you don't need to tick emission, only emitter. Emission is a multiplier for base emission so don't use black (or zero for the matter) ! Mainly it's for textured emitters.

I've then added two zeroes to the emission scale value and the tube became visible under daylight.

Not sure about the mesh beside not emitting, not an SU expert either; could the material be applied at two different levels (group/components) for each mesh ?

Hey CTZn, thanks for the quick reply.

Emitter is what I meant! I misspoke. I was actually using a preset light material to try and avoid any errors due to my own middling understanding of emitters.

A few people suggested I try using 3.0.14, and that's solved the problem.

Thanks for your answer, I am certainly having a naive idea of the problem.

Frutiger, any luck solving this issue, or are you still having to use 3.0.14? I'm having the same problem, and I'd love to be able to move to 3.0.15 especially for its export speed, but without a solution to this bug I can't do it.

This should be fixed as of version 3.2.1 (just released)
