Noise from glass near Light

Post by marasalas » Fri Jan 07, 2011 2:45 am

Lately I've being seeing "noise" cause by the lights reflected on a glass surface. In the living room glass table and chair of this image there are a series of white dots caused by the lamp and fireplace light. Is there any way to reduce this. Please see attached image. Let me know at your convenience. Thanks for your help! :)

Is there some material with pure white colour?
If so then use R 0.8 G 0.8 B 0.8.

Which render mode are you using?

For indoor lighting & glass, BiDir MLT is recommended.

Q1: Is there some material with pure white colour? If so then use R 0.8 G 0.8 B 0.8.
A1: yes I accidentally left the material underneath the table pure white. I am currently using RGB 205 instead of pure white for all other walls...will this work?...

Q2: Which render mode are you using? For indoor lighting & glass, BiDir MLT is recommended.
A2: BiDir PT?....didn't know BiDir MLT is better.. I was also using F/22 for the camera settings and I assigned the material on the windows to be Exit Portals....

Will re run the render again and post as soon as is done..
THANKS!! for your help!!! :)

Exit portals are good, definitely will speed things up.

Definitely need BiDir and MLT in this one, especially for the glass.

Make sure no color component goes above 80-85%.
