hi all XSIers,

due to the skylight implementation (Z axis over our head) i had to turn back to a coords-sys switching. Now to use "correctly" XSI2Indigo the top view will have XY coords, the front view XZ coords, the right view YZ coords.

So XSI coords will be converted as follows:

Indigo <-------- XSI
X <-------- X
Y <-------- -Z
Z <-------- Y

Sorry for this workaround, but at the mom we have to manage Y-Up.

Best for all, Riccardo.

H i all,

the following image after some new functions implemented:
- enable/disable hidden object export
- enable/disable UV's export
- use Dummy Material
- some ui reorganization
- physical sky export
- XSI ambience color export

tbd:
- indigo texture coords helper
- HDRI image based lighting
- model instancing (to reduce file size and increase scene export speed)

It would be great to have Indigo in XSI!I just saw about it in XSIBASE site.
I think it would really expand XSI's capabilities and yeah it would be great to
use it for Arch Viz stuff and in high precision accurate renderings!

Thank you for working on an exporter! Please keep us updated!

Wow, excellent to see the render inside XSI's interface, and the material PPGs are a beaut.

Any chance of there eventually being a sort of "live" export? The only reason I ask is to get faster previews, not necessary but caught me as a cool idea.

Thanks :D

I just visited the indigo blog site and saw that v0.6 was released. Plus it said:
Indigo exporter plugins are available for 3dsMax, Blender, Cinema4d, Maya, Rhino and XSI
XSI exporter in the official release announcement? Is this some insider information or am I missing something? :)

Hi Guys ...

Hey rgigante .. Xsi 6 is released .. and there are new rendering SDK as softimage said :

http://www.softimage.com/products/xsi/default.aspx

From Softimage Site :
Develop:
A Technical Director’s dream come true, XSI lets you use the best language for the job, offering integrated C#, and support for Python v.2.5 and .NET compliant languages. A Tools Development Environment (TDE) gives developers a dedicated environment for customization and plug-in development. With a completely programmable realtime shader pipeline, a dedicated framework to host custom applications, and a rendering SDK that makes it possible to integrate 3rd party renderers, XSI is simply the most customizable 3D package available
is this make any difference for develop your exporter ..

Hi guys,

as promised the development is getting on and on.
At this time has been included the "UV Helper". This functionality, together with a renewed UV engine, led the user to choose different texture supports for color texture and bump texture. It also capable to handle any other uv_set Indigo will include in the future.
After a complete recoding of the geometry exporter code, this functionality is also available to define texture support on clusters.

Here's a lil shot.

Next step... should be model instancing.

Any feedback appreciated.

Regards, Riccardo.

Looking better and better! :)

BTW, as the classic noicon.pic is in Softimage PIC format: does your exporter support automatic texture conversion (to PNG or JPG) and/or does it copy the textures to a /textures subfolder in the indigo install dir?

Hi Debris,

i think it won't convert texture maps in png or jpg (have no idea how to) but for sure it could be able to copy them in the dest folder... or(if Indigo will ever support non-relative path) create the full-path into the material definition.

Take care, Riccardo.

The "imf_copy.exe" commandline tool coming with XSI ( C:\Softimage\XSI_5.11\Application\bin ) is able to both copy and convert images in one step. I'm not a coder / scripter, but I know it can be called in scripts. Would be a great feature :)
