how to export a animation ?

Post by revla75 » Wed Feb 24, 2010 6:07 am

Hello,
could you tell me how to export a animation from c4d for exemple to Indigo. With other unbiased renderer, it's possible to determinate the time for every pictures or the number of pass by pictures. I could not find this settings in Indigo renderer demo version. Is it a limitation of the demo version ?

No, Indigo demo version is fully functional, just limited in resolution and watermarked!

You have to enable the "render effect" Indigo render settings for your scene (like you enable Ambient Occlusion etc.)

- In the first tab "Export Settings" check the box for export animation
- in the third tab "Render Settings" set a value for "halt time" or "halt samples per pixel"
so your rendering will stop after time or a sample count is reached

Cindigo exports the C4D animation range you set like for basic C4D animations.

happy animating and welcome to the forum.

fell free to post your results here :-)

Erm...

animation export not working here. Mac OS X 10.5.8, C4D R10.5, Cindigo 2.2 Stable (2.2.11), Indigo 2.2.12.
Error message:

Code: Select all

A problem occurred with the scene:
Failed to open file '/Users/DAVECORE/Desktop/animation/test.igs'.
Scene: Camera moving around a simple cube.

- Set export time interval in the C4D render settings
- Activated "export animation" in the Indigo render settings
- Set either values for "render halt time" or "render halt samples per pixel"

Problem lasts either if I specify a custom output path or not, "low priority" is activated or not, in all render modes, clay render activated or not, started as master or not.

Any idea?
Cheers, David

This could be related to the situation that for animations cindigo creates some batch cmd file that works through the frames.
This maybe wasn't adapted to work on OS X :?:

<business_translation>
Due to heavy improvements for the next Indigo version I can take a look at your request on the beginning of the next week at the earliest.
Thank you for your bug report!
</business_translation>

Then have fun in Auckland! :-)
I personnally think that it's some kind of command line issue, too.
Cheers, David

Then have fun with fixing...
because it's a key feature which doesn't work. :mrgreen:

I suppose it's got something to do with the correct command line commands(?) and relative paths... I don't believe that it's a major bug in Indigo itself.

well, its because in windows I use batch files to queue the animation. batch files dont work in osx. I could probably solve it with a shell script, but that needs admin rights to be executed, iirc.

so what we really want is that Indigo queues up renderings, which will definitely happen in 2.4.
