Vegetation plugin compatibility

Post by davide445 » Sun Jan 24, 2016 1:42 am

For a new project planning the usage of a C4D plugin for vegetation, want to ask if someone does have experience about these plugins and their compatibility with Indigo: Laubwerk, Forester, XFrog.

Vegetation plugin compatibility

All of these don't deliver native indigo shaders; you have to set up them all by yourself. :(

Plus: in some cases Indigo doesn't export the render level resolution correctly; only the viewport resolution.

No good for an hassle-free target setup for beginners.
Any other vegetation plugin that does setup it correctly?

I'm afraid no... glare could do more and better marketing in these cases...

This is most likely not a bug in cindigo, tho. It asks C4D for render level resolution.

Is there a difference between the SDKs from R14 to R17? I noticed that behavior only since R17...

Hi

Many users have produced beautiful images with vegetation.
They all used SketchUp?
What other software compatible with Indigo can manage well the vegetation?
Mac Mini 2011 - 2,3 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 - Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 Mb.
Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB - MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

^ Also Blender and its particle system. Though Blendigo can probably be optimised as it isn't very fast at exporting the instances.

I did also tried the demo, in my understanding its less parametric and offer less species than XFrog, but it's easier to use.
Forester offer also stones and wind, but no demo and no production ready textures.

Hi

Right now I feel Laubwerk SurfaceSPREAD (demo for C4D) that would not cost much € 75.
The problem is to make the grass in Cinema4D and render it in Indigo. Do you have suggestions?

I bought several Grass Model packs, and then I scatter them with either forester, SurfaceSpread, mograph or carbonscatter. It depends.

Zeiti would you mind sharing what models did you purchase?

Sure! The trees I do create with Forester4D.
For Grass I use the free pack of Mischa Winkler:
http://www.ronenbekerman.com/free-grass-model-texture/

Also I bought that evermotion archmodels package:
http://www.evermotion.org/shop/show_pro ... l-124/9371
And this one:
http://www.silva3d.com/?product=archviz-grasses-vol1

With these I create custom grass patches by mixing models and reducing the polygons how I need them.
