Instances in the corrent version of cindigo

Post by vasco » Wed Mar 20, 2013 1:06 am

Hello,

in the manual here:
http://www.indigorenderer.com/documenta ... ugins-menu
is shown how to make an instance but in the current version of cindigo the menu entry is not available.

I read somewhere that I just have to check render instances but there are just objects exported to Indigo, when I use mograph for example. Can someone explain me how this works?

regards

Cindigo now does use the C4D Instance Object and doesn't care if the "renderinstance" checkbox is checked or not.
Nowadays Cindigo also does autoinstancing of objects, so if you have similar Objects, Cindigo should recognize them and only export 1 mesh, that "should" even work if both objects have different materials.

Some quite cool stuff, isn't it ;)

....!
Do you have a proof of that auto-instancing?!

Thanks for your answer Zom-B,

do you know where in Indigo scene panel can I see that I have exported instances? because I used c4d instances and nothing about instances is shown in Indigo.

In Sketchup I just have to copy an Objekt and in the Indigo scene panel under type -instance- is added to the name of the objekt.

Apart the fact that c4d by far has the fastest exporter, it is much slower when I export my mograph object. Can you tell me the reason for this?

Hit Shift+F10 for the console or go "windows > console"

Its actually slowed down a lot by the autoinstancing ;)

No, since I don't know your setup :P
Exporting thousends of objects (instances or not) will still take some time. Big meshes take time too...

Thanks Zom-B, you are right. In the console I can see that instances are exported. 10sec for exporting this modell is very fast. In Blender the export of this modell is about 5min.

Also take care that Cindigo bakes all your C4D shaders to texture, so it can take some time if ya have a lot of high rez materials that use shaders (baking rez can be defined in the "Extra Options" of each material).
