C4d R14 & Env_Map

Post by Zlaty Lev » Tue Nov 20, 2012 11:29 pm

I was testing the new R14 with the latest Indigo Version because I want to change from Blender to C4D.
With Sun& Sky it works fine, but I can not get it to work with EXR map.

I´m not sure if it´s a problem of the R14 not working with the current exporter or a problem of my workflow.

I did the following:

Add a Sky object to my scene
create a Indigo material (Type diffuse)
assigned the exr file as emitter texture
assigned the material to the sky element
assigned the material as background material to the render preference in c4d

Start the "render in Indigo"
The environment settings in Indigo shows Environment map, but no texture is loaded.

Only the bold steps are needed, the sky object is obsolete in the workflow (atm).

Also take care to raise your Spectrum strength to a value that is high enough to bright up your scene, see attached screen for that.

BTW: why change from Blender to C4D??! I was always playing with the idea to chage from C4D to Blender, since its free, has fast development and brings a big overall value with water/smoke simulation etc.

Thank you for your hint. But the problem is the Texture is not exported to indigo as you can see on the screenshot.

The problem with blender is the stability and the development of the exporter in the last 2 years.
It is OK for home or semi-professional use, without deadlines.

But when it comes to reliability for professional use it is not.
In the last 2 years I had so many problems with blender & blendigo and that cost me a lot of time.
That´s why I check the other possibilities.

Just an idea: It could be that the emission channel is not checked.

If it still doesn't work, could you send the scene, including the texture you are trying to use?

Emission is checked, Files attatched!

Could it be a problem of the C4D Demo Version ?

I found the problem, you have set 3 different renderpresets, called Preview etc.

Well...

You edited "preview" but have "Meine Rendervoreinstellungen" active ^^
