Background image and exit portals

Post by Rich_Art » Sat Jul 21, 2012 9:37 pm

Hi All,

I'm just testing all kind of things in Cindigo and now I stumbled upon a problem.
I have a simple room with a window. I want to place an image plane outside so it looks like your looking to a forest or whatever..
When I place an exit portal behind the window all I see is just the sky and the image plane is completely ignored.
How can I solve this?
Do I have to do this in post? is it possible to render out an Alpha?
The C4D compositing tag and Object buffer I can't use with Cindigo...

Peace,
Rich_Art.

Unfortunately, using Exit Portals blocks out anything behind them, as they 'become' the background. Looks like something you'll have to do in post. You could use an alpha rendering to composite an image in there, however that doesn't work if you have glass in the window.

Yes, thats how EPs work

You can model a kind of open Box behind your window to place stuff inside, like for a balcony etc.

Yes, there is a alpha mode in the render modes, check them!
For masks I swap back to C4D internal renderer and render using the Object ID, that works quite well :)

Thanks for the clarification..

But then I can't use the EP's.. :-)

Yes I use that kind of tricks also when rendering with Vray for example. ;-)

You lack in fantasy my friend :P

Se attached example of a terrace, the transparent mesh is asignt with a EP Tag, there is NO reason why EPs should be planes only ;)
