LIGHTS IN C4D
LIGHTS IN C4D
Hello everyone,
I need help. I have a simple scene with a few lights + on a plan to lead the side in dark areas. once under Indigo impossible to manage the intensity of the lights, everything is frozen. I joint the c4d scene so you can see what is wrong. Thank you in advance.

Re: LIGHTS IN C4D
Hey Schmums,
regarding our scenes there are a few points:
1) You only have a single Indigo material applied! Cindigo converts on the fly from C4D mats to Indigo,
but for advanced control and better understanding try using Indigo materials alone.
2)Indigo light system is material based. You define a material that emits light and put
it on a mesh to light the scene.
3) Don't use the Light Tag:)
4) your big plane on the right has normals facing wrong way. Indigo light get only emitted into normal direction!
Also try to keep your emitter lights as low poly as possible and make the size reasonable. In your case there are a lot of ray firing out in the ether, still using CPU power to do so!
I added a modified scene for you to see what I changed.

Re: LIGHTS IN C4D
Fused thank you for your reactivity!
Watching the scene you've changed, I better understand my mistake.
And now it works.
However, one last question ... why not be able to tag lights and do not add to the list in the parameters provided in c4d, which seemed logical at the outset.

Zom-B,
now you should seriously ask Glare for salary for developing Cindigo!

Re: LIGHTS IN C4D
Converting C4D light works at some basic points... but Cindigo converts the lights to meshlights and sets up a "physical plausible" light material on it. All the fancy and biased parameters for light C4D uses aren't possible in Indigo (and other unbiased render engines!).
So there is no point to use C4D lights for Indigo based lightning, because only a few things could be taken over... way to complicated... bad orientation what works, what not... etc.
Get known to material based lightning, its best to understand and master Indigo!
He he Zeitmeister, I just a smart-ass... more the type of "Captain Hindsight" then anything else

Re: LIGHTS IN C4D
ok!
but then what is the tag light, and the "light layers names" parameters in rendering c4d?

Re: LIGHTS IN C4D
I use the light tag with much fuss. it's great to get a first glance on the final image. When I add a light it have the default set so that indigo tag is applied, then i set the layer for each light and I'm set to go. Having no materials to search for in the material editor is another point in a cluttered scene.Zom-B wrote:3) Don't use the Light Tag:)

It seems like the short Cindigo manual would be a great read for youSCHMUMS wrote:ok!

With Light Layers you can divide each lightmaterial to be rendered in a different Layer (see in Indigo GUI > Light Layers")
By this you have control over light during rendering!
But be aware of higher RAM usage too...
P.S. just watched SP yesterday... really awesome.
The Mysterion situation was really creepy to see after all this years... wow!!

Re: LIGHTS IN C4D And USE IES
I want to use data IES but I don't know what settings to change.
Should I use the tab "+ IES Lights Scalling" of scattering material? or use the scattering parameters of the material. If so what settings do I have to use (Use Emmis Scale, Value ...)
I did a test on the example, but I can not raise or lower the intensity of light IES.
Always in modifying materials is what I have to specify a spectrum type (RGB, ... Blackbody)
also some "one can tell me the difference between these different types?
merci d'avance

Re: LIGHTS IN C4D And USE IES
RGB: Light based on colour and brightness.SCHMUMS wrote: Always in modifying materials is what I have to specify a spectrum type (RGB, ... Blackbody)

Uniform: A white light with intensity based on value given.
Blackbody: Light is based on the temperature. Measured in Kelvin.
Peak: Define the limits of the wavelength.
Real Tabulated: Allows nearly arbitrary spectra to be defined. The spectrum
value is given at regular wavelength intervals, and linear interpolation is used
to sample at intermediate wavelengths.

There is some hosted IES profiles available from:SCHMUMS wrote:I want to use data IES but I don't know what settings to change.
