The MayaToIndigo (MtI) documentation is currently missing. These few lines should tour you around the main MtI topics that will get you started meanwhile.

MtI is an exporter to Indigo for Maya. It does not integrate Indigo within Maya as a renderer.

To install MtI:

- Download and install Indigo: http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1
- Extract the MtI archive to a temporary place on disk.
- Start Maya
- Open the Script Editor window, 'File > Source Script...'
- source 'mti_installation.mel'.

You will be prompted wether you want to install MtI or cancel, and after install wether you want to initialize MtI for the current scene or not.

Initialization of MtI for the current scene happens by clicking any of the (new) shelf 'Indigo' buttons. Upon the first initialisation you will be prompted to browse to the folder containing the Indigo application.

Indigo preferences are saved with the scene. Indigo application path is retained between Maya sessions and can be edited from the (new) 'MtI' menu > 'Renderer Path...'.

Indigo attributes on relevant objects will be set to their respective default values upon exporting if they were not revised by the 'Indigo Editor' window.

The 'Indigo Editor' window is the centric asset of the MtI exporter for editing. It will disappear if the selection is not relevant to Indigo. This auto-refresh behaviour can be changed to 'on-demand' from the Indigo Editor's 'Window' menu. The two text lines below the menu have contextual marking menus (right(Win)/cmd(Mac) click) that you may find usefull to navigate between shapes and shaders notably, and edit them.

The film sensivity is attached to the perspective cameras.

Changing the rendering camera is currently done as follows:
- Open/refresh the MtI Options window (Second shelf button from the left.)
- in the 'Image' tab, select the rendering camera.

Unknown materials will be converted on the fly to 'indigoShader' type, diffuse. Scenes designed for third-party renderers should export, however the lights will most likely have to be redesigned for Indigo.

Keep in mind that the default lighting is sun and sky, you want to set it to 'none' for cloaked interiors in order to save computing ressources (MtI Options window > Environment).

The rightmost icon on the shelf will start export and render.

Your questions and remarks in the Maya sub-forum are encouraged on http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum.

You will find that MtI has still quite some quirks that will be wiped out with time, and faster with your interaction.

See you there,
